Following Courtney Marie Andrews’ successful month-long tour around Europe (Aug-Sep 2017) with full band (Dillon, Alex, Nathan, William), the next album is being recorded in LA in about a week’s time (after her shows in Nashville this weekend).

Courtney Marie Andrews is on BBC2 tonight at 10pm on Later… With Jools Holland

She’ll play one song during the live 30-minute show, and will record a second song for the extended 1-hour show broadcast on Friday night.

Update 23:30pm:
Courtney played ‘Table For One‘ on the live show, accompanied by BJ Cole on pedal steel guitar. From Instagram pics it looks like Courtney played a song with Jools Holland on the piano for the 1 hour show!

Courtney released a music video yesterday (Thu 2nd March) for her new song ‘Put The Fire Out’, directed by Josh Perrault.

Courtney is playing the final show of her Handsome Family support slot dates tonight in Brighton (Friday 3rd March). You might still be able to grab a ticket if you’re quick!

Following this, Courtney will play sold out headline shows in Guildford (Sat 4th March) and London (Mon 6th March) before shows across Europe in March. In total Courtney will have played 27 shows in 30 days during her Feb/March trip across the pond!

Ace review of the new album and interview with Courtney by Carly Schorman over at YabYum. “Honest Life demonstrates the culmination of the years she has devoted to honing her craft.” … “CMA pairs a pensive songwriting with an adventurous soul and that spirit can be felt on every track” … “Honest Life presents the sincere observations of a wide-eyed watcher.” … “The new album is simply breathtaking. It is aptly named for the emotional honesty that resonates in every track”.

American Standard Time also has great words for the new album: “Courtney Marie Andrews third album Honest Life is a high water mark in her career.” … “Andrews possesses a special arsenal: the ability to play, write, and sing. Those weapons combined with her inspirations –heartbreak, and travel– have resulted in a tremendous song collection on Honest Life. With a backup band providing electric guitar, slide, piano, and drums it’s a stellar combination.” (NB: you can listen to 2 of the songs on the record – Rookie Dreaming and How Quickly Your Heart Mends on their site).

MotherChurchPew.com have a review of ‘How Quickly Your Heart Mends’ (and calls it a single? perhaps this is the first to be released from the album?). Great quote from the review: “Andrews’ crystalline voice enters the ears and heads straight for the heart”.

Mike Seely over at NoDepression.com reviews Courtney’s new album: “she sings with a purity and joy that instantly recalls The Innocence Mission’s Karen Peris or Joni Mitchell (especially on “Irene”)” … “hers is the music that makes you rock in your seat. Honest Life’s first song, “Rookie Dreaming,” veritably explodes out of the stereo, and she hardly lets up on the rest of the album. Ryan Adams’ Cardinals aren’t backing her, but her band’s so cohesively jangly that it sounds like they are.”

Onechord.net describes Honest Life as “an absolute beauty of an album” in their review.
