This concert in San Francisco was my fifth and final show following Courtney’s tour around the Pacific Northwest/California back in May and was definitely the coolest.
The venue was a beautiful convent in San Francisco that doubles as a home and studio for local artists, musicians and creative types. They turned the place into a “giant cuddle room” with pillows and cushions on the floor and the room lit by candles. It was the perfect laid-back magical atmosphere to listen to Courtney’s tunes and a real highlight of my trip to the States.
I shot the first 6 songs on a 50mm f/1.4 lens and hand-held the camera – so I apologise that it’s a bit wobbly. I’m reasonably happy with how it turned out – I was planning on doing some editing in Final Cut Pro, but seeing as this was shot nearly 7 months ago now, I decided to just upload the raw video straight out of the camera.
The audio is from the internal camera microphone so it picks up a fair amount of clicks and camera noise (and the lovely guy to my left tucking into cookies and breathing quite heavily at times lol :)) Ideally I should have taken an external Zoom H4N mic on my travels.. ah well.
Courtney is accompanied by the very talented Jon Berry on vocals for ‘Blue Woman’ and then on violin and vocals for the next 3 songs. I had so much fun spending time with these two lovely people in Seattle, Portland, Astoria and San Francisco – I hope you enjoy the videos.
